Katherine Gendreau
Bristol, Rhode Island

Katherine first became interested in photography when she moved to Rhode Island in 2006. She would bike along the ocean every day around sunset, when the light was golden and beautiful, feeling compelled to photograph what she saw. Since then, Katherine’s work has taken her to many places outside of Rhode Island. She tries to capture the sense of wonder that she feels when discovering a location for the first time. Utilizing long exposures ranging from one second to eight minutes, she attempts to record the accumulation of time in a single image. Dreamy and otherworldly, Katherine’s photographs unveil a secret world that is always there but the eye cannot see.

My love of the ocean made this a perfect addition to my office. To relieve and relax the days stresses away. I have made it my goal to stand in this beautiful place. The colors and features of this image give it a great composition.
