Most people situated in the window seat of a plane will either attempt to sleep or stare aimlessly into space, contemplating where they just were, where they are going or whether the plane will arrive safely at all. I like to look outside and see all of the interesting configurations brought about by an aerial view, as if the changing terrain and casting of shadows produces epic, three-dimensional art from the master hand of some mysterious god. Transcontinental planes tend to be saturated with an invisible layer of polarized filter on the windows. Combined with my own polarizer, the surprisingly enhanced contrast and pronouncement of colorful hues created a nearly celestial scene of the world as we glided into Hawaii.
