Comments About This Piece

This piece was created using a custom built video synthesizer that feeds audio input to affect digital images. The source images are live feeds from inside my studio and the audio input is a spoken word poem I wrote called New Water. The resulting digital images are then printed using an inkjet printer on printable perforated vinyl and layered several times. I mounted the print on a handmade cradled steel panel. The steel is 1/8" thick and has been polished to bring out its metallic qualities. The sides and back of the piece are finished with black paint. The work comes ready to hang.

The title breaks down like this:
They Are Floating Over My Back = the phrase spoken into the synth that generated the image
Sound Synthesis = the process the work was created within
D on C = a Dark print layered on a Color print
Poem Painting = this body of work is called the Poem Paintings
New Water = the poem this work is from
