David Ballinger
Plainfield, Indiana

David Ballinger carefully plans out his papercut artworks. He oftentimes works with stencils and spray paint and admires artists like Shepard Fairey, Banksy and Logan Hicks. The artist currently lives in Indiana where he teaches art at a middle school. When he’s not painting, he enjoys spending time with his family. Fun fact: Yoko Ono owns two of his paintings.

Comments About This Piece

This painting depicts a mother frog and a child resting on her back. To create this painting I intricately cut 11 stencils out of paper with an x-acto knife. I thin layered them on top of each other, much like a screen print, and painted each layer to create every elaborate detail of the two frogs. This painting was inspired by my wife and daughter, there is nothing like the bond between a mother and child. This painting is on a gallery wrapped canvas with finished edges. It comes ready to hang.

Stretched canvas

Canvas is a heavy-duty fabric used as a painting surface. When a canvas artwork is labeled stretched, it means the canvas has been wrapped around a wooden frame (the ''stretcher''). Stretched canvases typically do not require framing.

A one-of-a-kind artwork is a unique piece handmade by the artist. There is only one in existence. The work may be part of a series, however, the piece itself is unlike any other. This piece is available exclusively at UGallery.
