David Ballinger
Plainfield, Indiana

David Ballinger carefully plans out his papercut artworks. He oftentimes works with stencils and spray paint and admires artists like Shepard Fairey, Banksy and Logan Hicks. The artist currently lives in Indiana where he teaches art at a middle school. When he’s not painting, he enjoys spending time with his family. Fun fact: Yoko Ono owns two of his paintings.

Comments About This Piece

I first painted, then hand cut hexagons into four pieces of thick paper. Then I glued five pieces of paper together to create a nested effect. One side is all white and the other gets lighter as the hexagons get smaller. As you can see by the pictures, this artwork took a large amount of time and planning.
