Who Knows Where the Time Went?

Preparing for a solo show later in the spring (April) at Upstream Gallery in Dobbs Ferry, NY, where I'll be in the Main Gallery. Over the past six weeks I've completed five new paintings in addition to the 14 that were shown at Front Street Gallery in December. (It seems I need to replace inventory that has been sold. Such are the problems of success!)

How nice of you to post an appreciation! Your kind words mean a great deal and it's equally wonderful to know that Bear Mountain Boogie Woogie (also one of my wife's favorites) has found a good setting in an appreciative home. Will be sure to post if plans are going to take me to DC or Maryland.

This has been a busy spring and summer. I am working away, trying to prepare for a solo show next spring at Upstream Gallery in Dobbs Ferry. Meanwhile the Front Street Gallery in Patterson has asked me to participate in a two person show in October. At the momemnt I also have two paintings on dispaly at the Calvert Maritime Museum in Maryland. These bits of good news, together with the sale of a half dozen paintings this year, including two through this site, make for a happy camper. I'm pleased at the progress and grateful for the support of collectors who have stepped up to buy in a challenging economy. It's great when family and friends want to purchase a painting but when strangers are willing and eager to do the same it definitely builds one's confidence.

I'm now representedby Upstream Gallery on Main Street in Dobbs Ferry, New York. Drop by in December for the group show -- I'll have a piece or two up then.

Renee took me down to Washington DC for the weekend where we saw the Gabriel Metsu show at the National Gallery. We also saw severL other exhibits at the NG as well as at the National Portrait Gallery and Hirshorn. A great art weekend. Took the Acela from Penn Station to DC. Our hotel one block from the the station and a short walk to the museums. What a great (early) birthday present!

I participated in the annual Northport Invitational Plein Air painting event last weekend. This was the fifth year the event has been held and about two dozen artists were out painting the town and waterfront, some came from as far away as Massachussetts. We had great weather on Friday but since rain was predicted for Saturday, most of us tried to make the most of the good weather on Friday and get something finished for the exhibit and silent auction on Sunday at the Lamantia Gallery on Main Street. It really is a great experience painting in the company of some nationally recognized artists, people whose work I genuinely respect.
