Janice Warriner
castle rock, Colorado

Janice was born in Alberta, Canada, but currently calls Colorado home, which, incidentally, is the perfect place to capture many of her beautiful landscape images. She creates her oil paintings in layers of color creating a rich, textural surface. Best known for her tree and mountain landscapes, her paintings are very tactile and capture the feel of nature. She sculpts mountains and trees with her pallette knife, bringing them to life. Janice paints to bring joy to her collectors and a sense of peace and serenity into their home.

This is beautiful to read, I am so happy that this painting evoked these lovely memories for you. When I paint, I listen to classical music and it helps me to be in a peaceful state while I paint. You made my day! Thank you! Sincerely, Janice

Lovers Point - Wow that is where I raised my 3 boys as a single. Very inspirational moments and you captured the emotion.

When I saw one of your paintings, I was reminded of the time years ago when I was flying over the French countryside for the first time. There were vast crops of rapeseed, their brilliant yellow color slightly muted by the clouds and haze, with rivers and roads separating the patches. When I noticed that your painting is called "Yellow Fields" I knew that I had to have it. I received it today, and it is beautiful!

Comments About This Piece

Making art gives meaning to my life, allowing me to be me. It is about capturing the beauty in my eyes and celebrating it--passing it on. Colorado is dense with Aspen trees and I love to paint them en plein air. The Aspen leaves flutter in just the lightest breeze, making a soft whispering sound. This painting reminds us of the precious treasures in our lives. It is on a gallery wrapped canvas with finished edges and comes ready to hang.

Oil painting

Oil paint uses natural oils, such as linseed, poppy and walnut oil to bind the pigments. Oils are slow to dry, which allows the artist to rework the painting to achieve the desired effect. Also, they blend easily, which helps to achieve certain colors. With the rise of naturalism in 15th century Early Netherlandish painting, oil paints became preferred to quick drying tempera paint. Artists wanted a medium that would allow them to achieve detailed and precise effects in their paintings. Consider all of the detail in the masterpieces of Jan van Eyck and Hieronymus Bosch!

Stretched canvas

Canvas is a heavy-duty fabric used as a painting surface. When a canvas artwork is labeled stretched, it means the canvas has been wrapped around a wooden frame (the ''stretcher''). Stretched canvases typically do not require framing.

A one-of-a-kind artwork is a unique piece handmade by the artist. There is only one in existence. The work may be part of a series, however, the piece itself is unlike any other. This piece is available exclusively at UGallery.
