Chelsea Tikotsky
Hillsboro, Oregon

Chelsea Tikotsky creates soft portraits of the world around her with an Impressionist-influenced style. She blends color into each part of the work, dotting even blue bodies of water with yellows and reds. She currently lives in California and loves the work of Claude Monet and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Fun fact: some of her favorite things include chocolate, yoga, and reading.

Hi Chelsea- The painting arrived and was everything I hoped for- the colors were so dramatic and set the stage for a very "sultry night"- I will continue to follow your work. Cheers, Frank

Hi Chelsea- I just ordered your Sultry Night artwork- the colors were just intriquing and I can't wait to hang it in my art room. You mentioned that it is ready to hang and I hope that includes the wiring. Many thanks, Frank

I absolutely love the movement & expression in this piece. This piece is amazing! One day I hope to own something so beautiful. We are rebuilding our home after a house fire destroyed it & everything inside last December - including some art pieces that were special to me. I wish I had the budget right now, but one day... Thanks for sharing your gifts.

Hi V Wong, I am so glad that you like the painting. I just wanted to let you know that there is a signature on the front and the back. The signature on the front is on the bottom right corner; the signature is small.

I've just purchased "Paradise Cove". I must tell you I'm very happy with my purchase and I would like to thank you for such a colorful and beautiful work, I'm using this painting as a center piece for my daughter's room. I was a little sad to find that your signature was on the back, is there some reason for putting the signature on the back?

Welcome to my artwork! I hope you enjoy what you see! I have been getting some inspiration from San Francisco City and New York City. I have been exploring how to merge cityscapes into my landscape paintings and seascape paintings. So far I am very excited about my new inspiration and my continuation of my Blue Impressions theme! A fun fact about the Golden Gate Bridge is: “The actual 'Golden Gate' is the strait that the bridge spans. Initially it was named "Chrysopylae" connoting "golden gate" by Captain John C. Fremont in 1846.” I am glad that they ended up calling it the Golden Gate Bridge! I’ve been having fun exploring different paint strokes too. It felt like such a release to let go with the paint brush. On one of my most recent paintings “Golden Gates”, I let go with the paint brush and slathered paint on all over. I didn’t lose entire control with the brush but just enough to let some fluid motion course through the painting.

Comments About This Piece

A sunset can summon a variety of emotions and memories depending on the lighting, color, and movement of the brushstrokes. I paint with brushes and palette knives to create depth and texture. Oil paint allows me to create artwork that has vibrancy and dynamic colors. This painting is on a gallery wrapped canvas with finished edges. It comes ready to hang.

Oil painting

Oil paint uses natural oils, such as linseed, poppy and walnut oil to bind the pigments. Oils are slow to dry, which allows the artist to rework the painting to achieve the desired effect. Also, they blend easily, which helps to achieve certain colors. With the rise of naturalism in 15th century Early Netherlandish painting, oil paints became preferred to quick drying tempera paint. Artists wanted a medium that would allow them to achieve detailed and precise effects in their paintings. Consider all of the detail in the masterpieces of Jan van Eyck and Hieronymus Bosch!

Canvas board

Canvas board is a thin, flat panel of either particle board or cardboard wrapped in canvas. If not already framed, most canvas board work will require framing.

A one-of-a-kind artwork is a unique piece handmade by the artist. There is only one in existence. The work may be part of a series, however, the piece itself is unlike any other. This piece is available exclusively at UGallery.
