Dear Odalys, Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm so glad you connected with this piece. I burn wood in the Minnesota winter here and so cutting and splitting wood holds a special place in my heart too. This was a special piece. It was a departure for me in my painting in that it was an idea I had, and I set it up and then photographed and painted it. Normally I just go out and see what I can get with the camera, I usually don't have much input, I simply see something I like. I also wanted to say I have a lot of paintings laying around my place, and your piece stood out with family and friends. It got much more of a reaction than most that come of my easel. So it's a special piece that's a favorite of mine. I'm so glad someone purchased it who appreciates it! As far as framing, i usually do a black or dark wood with a metal leaf liner. 2-3 inches in width for that size would be appropriate. There are many places online that you can find such a ready made frame. For a simple, economical option you might look around Blick Art Material's site http://www.dickblick.com/products/blick-simplon-plein-air-frames/ they have lots of options. Thank you for your purchase, and thank you for seeing the value in original artwork. I sincerely hope it brings you joy for many many years. Nate

Nathan, from the minute I saw this painting online, it spoke to me. It was a very healing image for me- one that reminds of deeply held memories of a special time in my life. Thank you for being inspired to paint this. If you have any suggestions about how to frame please recommend. ODiaz

Ms Salehar, First of all, thanks so much for your purchase! And thank you for your following up with me about the pieces. Before my partnership with UGallery.com, i only sold in a few local galleries, and so it's been quite an experience selling paintings and shipping them to the middle east! I have to admit, I had no idea there would be a market for midwestern American landscapes in the Dubai. But after your explanation it all makes sense. Well I'm thrilled to have brought a little of the midwest to Dubai:) I sincerely hope they bring you years of enjoyment. And thank you for seeing value in original artwork. Sincerely Nathan Hager

Comments About This Piece

A quite winter scene of horses in a barnyard.  This piece is on canvas board and will require a frame for display.

Oil painting

Oil paint uses natural oils, such as linseed, poppy and walnut oil to bind the pigments. Oils are slow to dry, which allows the artist to rework the painting to achieve the desired effect. Also, they blend easily, which helps to achieve certain colors. With the rise of naturalism in 15th century Early Netherlandish painting, oil paints became preferred to quick drying tempera paint. Artists wanted a medium that would allow them to achieve detailed and precise effects in their paintings. Consider all of the detail in the masterpieces of Jan van Eyck and Hieronymus Bosch!

Canvas board

Canvas board is a thin, flat panel of either particle board or cardboard wrapped in canvas. If not already framed, most canvas board work will require framing.

One-of-a-kind

A one-of-a-kind artwork is a unique piece handmade by the artist. There is only one in existence. The work may be part of a series, however, the piece itself is unlike any other. This piece is available exclusively at UGallery.
