Scott Dykema
Arlington, Texas

Scott Dykema’s work comes from an endless desire to create. He has a deep affection for putting something down onto a blank surface, making the commitment to giving it life, and seeing it through to its finished state. The process is so complicated but so pleasurable, he says. Scott’s work has been an o-going internal conversation for the past 12 years or so, and though he has taken small breaks, he does not plan on finishing the conversation any time soon. Fun fact: Scott co-owns and illustrates a series of children’s books.

Hi Scott, I came across your work while browsing the art on this website, and keep coming back to stare at your New Day Geisha. On a public servants salary, it's out of my range, but I just wanted to pass along to you that I think it's beautiful. I hope it finds a great home, and I'll keep checking back in hopes of treating myself in the future. Cheers!

I am very pleased with my artwork. It has exceeded my expectations. It came very well packed.I decided to hang it on the wall at the top of our stairs so it is like she is watching over us and it's a location in the house that we pass by often so it's just a lovely painting that I don't think I'll ever get tired of looking at.It brings some peace and tranquility to my life.Thank you!

Feeling really grateful for the amazing exposure we are receiving for our childrens book Keep Dreaming. We have been able to get it out there and had some amazing experiences giving books to kids that really deserve to hear the books messages. Hope you all are dreaming big.

Comments About This Piece

This painting is made of oil paint, acrylic paint, and metal leaf on a gallery wrapped canvas. The edges are painted in an antique gold finish and the work comes wired to hang.

Mixed media artwork

Mixed media refers to an artwork that is created using several different types of traditional art media, for example oil paint, ink and collage. The specific media used for each mixed media piece on UGallery is listed in the notes section.

Stretched canvas

Canvas is a heavy-duty fabric used as a painting surface. When a canvas artwork is labeled stretched, it means the canvas has been wrapped around a wooden frame (the ''stretcher''). Stretched canvases typically do not require framing.

A one-of-a-kind artwork is a unique piece handmade by the artist. There is only one in existence. The work may be part of a series, however, the piece itself is unlike any other. This piece is available exclusively at UGallery.
