Artist

Francesco D'Adamo
Bologna, Italy

Living and working in Bologna, Italy, Francesco D’Adamo is a self-taught painter and musician. Recently quitting his job to become a full-time artist, Francesco is always searching for interactions between painting and music. His goal is to let these two languages interact in a continuous synesthesia. When he’s not painting, Francisco plays the guitar and cello for his two bands -- Nero di Marte and Nono Cerchio -- and volunteers as an art therapy educator, leading painting workshops for people with mental disabilities.

Comments About This Piece

Chromophony is a mixed media piece that combines the use of large areas of oil and acrylic paint with other layers and materials, such as paper collage, and enamels, in an attempt to return a stable and balanced visual-musical composition despite the tensions and conflicts that it implies. Gestural and expressionist painters such as Alberto Burri, Afro Basaldella, and De Kooning inspire me. This piece is on a gallery wrapped canvas with finished edges. It comes ready to hang.

Mixed media artwork

Mixed media refers to an artwork that is created using several different types of traditional art media, for example oil paint, ink and collage. The specific media used for each mixed media piece on UGallery is listed in the notes section.

Stretched canvas

Canvas is a heavy-duty fabric used as a painting surface. When a canvas artwork is labeled stretched, it means the canvas has been wrapped around a wooden frame (the ''stretcher''). Stretched canvases typically do not require framing.

One-of-a-kind

A one-of-a-kind artwork is a unique piece handmade by the artist. There is only one in existence. The work may be part of a series, however, the piece itself is unlike any other. This piece is available exclusively at UGallery.
