Libby Ramage
Princeton, New Jersey

Libby Ramage infuses a playful and whimsical mood into her works. In fact, she credits the children she works with for greatly influencing her aesthetic. She currently lives in New Jersey and finds inspiration in the work of Rauschenberg. She believes collectors should buy from the heart. Fun fact: she sometimes uses children’s abandoned work in her collages.

This spring has been full of good surprises. My entry in the Mercer County exhibit was purchased by the Mercer County Cultural Comission and my submission to the Trenton Museum's Ellarslie Open won best in show for drawing!

Libby..I am really excited to have located you online through your art! I always liked your art back at SBS, especially our square yearbook. I hope you answer, so much to catch up on..." Newton"

Dear Nancy, I don't think you got my reply from my ipad? Anyway, thank you for writing and your kind words. I am so happy you like my art. I have been using my younger son's 7th grad Algebra homework for several years,(he's 24 now!). Memories of his struggles with homework are still vivid. By all means send me an image of your daughter's note. Enjoy! libby 4/23/2014 | 3:07 PM

Dear Libby -- This quirky and clever dog is adorable! I and everyone who sees it loves it! Thank you so much. I have an early note from my daughter on notebook paper which I have been wondering how to display. Maybe I could send you a pic of it and you could do some other creation on commission? Hope so! All the best, Nancy

Comments About This Piece

I have been studying the Bower bird and his creation of elaborate structures to entice a female. They are not used as nests, only for attracting a mate. This piece suggests a human male in his similar quest with the bird as a spirit guide.

The mixed media work is made of handmade paper, Sycamore bark, maps, feathers, graphite, charcoal and acrylic on illustration board. It will need a frame for display.

Mixed media artwork

Mixed media refers to an artwork that is created using several different types of traditional art media, for example oil paint, ink and collage. The specific media used for each mixed media piece on UGallery is listed in the notes section.

Illustration board

Illustration board is thin paperboard. It is often used for technical drawing and illustration. It provides one working surface, which separates it from bristol board that has a front and back working surface. If not already framed, most illustration board artwork will require framing.

A one-of-a-kind artwork is a unique piece handmade by the artist. There is only one in existence. The work may be part of a series, however, the piece itself is unlike any other. This piece is available exclusively at UGallery.
