Loveday Funck grew up primarily in the south, moving often as her father's career dictated. From childhood, she was caught between the mystical world of her grandmother's Romani heritage and her scientist father's pragmatic worldview. Unable to reconcile the two, she sought refuge in the dark, twisting trails of fairy tale and fantasy. During her college years at Tulane University, Loveday Funck became enamored of the historical beauty of New Orleans. Her artistic work traveled from beadwork and jewelry design to art dolls. In 2012, her life experienced a devastating loss with the death of her husband. Everything changed. Her priorities shifted and her vision transformed. She turned her talents to digital art, referencing surreal and fairy tale elements. It brought her solace and joy in her darkest hours. It gave her a direction for a new life. Working from antique imagery and her own photography, Loveday Funck plays with surrealistic themes, referencing both pop culture and historical sources. She explores the spiritual place where the playful whimsy of a fairy tale meets the dark mystery of the unknown. With her four children, Loveday Funck currently lives in the small town of Watson, Louisiana.
