Another year is coming to an end. It was a powerful year for me personally, dealing with life and health and stuff. This last fall I had the opportunity to refresh my skills and grow by taking a workshop or two. As a result my work is stronger, more gestural, and more authentically me from a deeper level of myself. I hope you enjoy it. Happy Holidays and Seasons Greetings.

Thank you very much. Now I am curious though. What do you see?

I like all the stuff you have going on in this piece, Kara. I see something quite different from the figure in the painting that you see. I think you have a promising future!

Well, it's New Year's Eve as I write this. The return of the light is my favorite time of year. It's a time of year when I kick back a little, and stop to ponder the paintings that I have created and what direction I want to pursue in the coming year. This last year was both exciting and very satisfying: numerous sales every month, locally and nationally; a revamped website; and a larger studio to create paintings for all you lovely people. My paintings are in demand and new opportunities are happening. I have you and UGallery to thank for my success. After all the shows and all the business of the fall and Christmas markets, an evermore busy time, I like to experiment and try something new. For the past few weeks I have been playing more with textural paintings, using different mediums to achieve great results. In the coming weeks and months, look for new textural paintings from me--which I hope you will love, but in keeping with my own unique style that has become more and more popular. Starting tomorrow, on the first day of January, 2015, I will paint 30 small paintings in 30 days just for the love of a challenge. I hope that some of them find their way to you to enjoy. Thank you for a great 2014! Happy New Year. Let's make it a good one.

This week the colour of the trees is coming on. Brilliant yellows, crimson red, and orange amidst the still green leaves. I love to just sit in my garden chair with a cup of coffee and watch them tumble down. I spent the week moving into my winter studio. Indoors. I have a bright sunny art room with a view of the garden, and I watch the wind in the trees make the leaves swirl down. I attempt to make my brush strokes imitate the wind and weather and as the seasons change, so does my painting.

Goodness me! I have been so busy painting that I haven't blogged for far too long. And it's now October!! It's been a whirlwind of a year so far and my paintings have been selling very well. My style is changing a bit, as I delve deeper into the mysteries of life...How can we see things as solid that are in motion constantly? How vast is the Universe? What is the supreme creative force behind it all? If we were able to put it all into slow motion, what would we see then? Are we really made of stardust? I continue to challenge myself with these ideas. They are my muses.

To: EParness. Hi! I am happy that you like my work. I am not sure what you are asking. You said the quality of used….. You can also inquire more directly to UGallery. Cheers, Kara

Some very nice work...I'm particularly interested in Dem Bones and would like to know the quality of used. Thanks

Oh My Goodness, Spring has arrived!! That seemed like a very long winter didn't it? Now I must divide my attention between my studio, my garden and my Labradoodle Rozee who is obsessed with playing catch with her ball. New work is being created daily though, as I find a day without a paintbrush is a day without fun. I am allowing UGallery to put some of my larger works on sale in upcoming sale rooms!! So now is your chance to scoop up a great painting.

Fall is here again, the light is softening, the days grow short and the trees dress up in their amazing colours. It is always time to create, but in the season leading up to winter holidays there are many upcoming shows wanting paintings from me. Fortunately I have been very busy in my studio this year creating oodles of paintings of all sizes. There is something for everyone's price point, with more coming out of the studio all the time. I am uploading them to UGallery as fast as I can. Recently I was invited to submit a painting for a show named "Almost Famous" The idea is to copy or imitate the style of a painting of a famous artist. Should be fun. I will post it on Facebook when it is finished.

Today I am off to the art store for fresh canvases! For me, Art stores as hard on my pocketbook as bookstores and thrift stores. I cannot resist all the lovely things, that I could potentially bring home with me, to create wonderful fresh new paintings. This week I have put one of my paintings in the sale room on UGallery. Now is your chance to own one of my creations for a lot less. "Just Blown Away" is in the sale room for this week only. I have also been busy in the studio creating some 30 x 40 inch canvas paintings so that you, my customers will have even more selection soon. The season is changing and fall is upon us soon, bringing the different and beautiful end of season colors, earthy golds, soft greys and blues, and of course reds and oranges. I look forward to sharing them with you.

Well, it's time to start a blog.... What to talk about? How about why am I an artist. I have always loved to draw and paint. If you saw my kindergarten report card, you would note that my teacher said I spent all my time painting. I remember this too! I didn't want to take nap time, I wanted to paint more pictures. Grade school, high school was no different, the highlight of my day was art class, even if I did not always do what the teacher said. What can I say? I am an artist, a free spirit. On to college...signed up for weaving, drawing, ceramics, life drawing, illustration etc. I entered 3rd year University Fine Arts and continued my studies in printmaking, painting and drawing. Graduated with a BFA and then an MA a few years later in 1991. I was not able to start making art full time for a few years more. So that's the how it came to be. It's is easier to say why I am an artist. I am driven to create art. It is a zone of meditation. It is a choice and not a choice.
