Thank you for looking at my paintings on UGallery. I have been an artist from my earliest days growing up in Long Beach, California. As a child, I was always creating something. By high school, I was designing and painting all kinds of projects and I designed and sewed most of my own clothes. After college, I became a high school art teacher. It is wonderful to teach young people what you love to do. Also, they like having their teacher being a working artist. I always have painted and have been fortunate to have had my work in private and corporate collections in the US and Internationally. Along the way, I have won awards in various painting exhibitions.
My working style is representational to impressionist. To start, I always pray that this one will my best work ever! On the canvas or board, I usually do a preliminary drawing and a value study of my subject either in alizarin crimson, dioxazine violet or burnt sienna. I allow bits of the underlying color to show through the final colors, which unifies the painting. My subjects include landscapes, city life, still life, and some figure. I’m inspired by any place I’d love to linger, or the things I enjoy around me. My subjects are authentic to my experience. My work reflects having lived in Spain, Switzerland, Peru, and Mexico, as well as the many other countries and states where I have traveled.
