A lifelong pursuit of painting began at an early age for Anita and continues to this day. Currently, she paints landscapes on location and in the studio using oils, pastels, and acrylics. Using a limited palette, she explores color and form with large shapes, light, and edge variation.
Studying art in school and achieving a B.A. from the University of Missouri, she then continued her training at the Kansas City Art Institute. Taking many workshops from notable artists has rounded her education.
After having a teaching studio in Tyler, Texas, Anita moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico. She began to travel to teach workshops and co-authored the book "Painting the Landscape in Pastel" with her then-husband.
The landscape of the Southwest continues to inspire her work.
