2013 was off to a slow start, spending lots of time indoors here in New York City to stay away from the cold. However South America was calling again and I flew down to Lima, Peru at the beginning of March to document 'Nosotras Estamos en la Calle' festival for women street artists from all over Latin America and the US. My first time to Lima, it was a whirlwind trip and can't wait to go back and discover more of Peru as a country. The women I met were amazingly talented painters and designers and they beautifuied the very grey and dusty streets of the capital city. This October I've been hanging out in New Mexico enjoying the warm fall and striking southwestern skies. A few weekends back, I took a road trip to Marfa, Texas with my brother to see what this arts-centric small town was all about. More here: http://www.alexandrahenry.com/marfa-texas

In addition to taking photos all around the world, I love to collect records. Another photographer and record collector I know, Eilon Paz, has just featured my record collection on his blog Dust & Grooves. He is about to embark on a road trip across the US looking for more vinyl collectors and make a photo book out of the trip, all in the name of preserving music culture. On Tuesday night I attended the awards show for an Instagram competition sponsored by Jameson Whiskey here in São Paulo. Four of my photos were on display out of 5,900 total entries. Though I didn't win the prize (a trip to NYC, how ironic), I saw amazing photos, by extremely talented photographers, of the city I love so much. Over 300 photographers were on display throughout various venues in the bohemian part of town.
