I'm not sure why this particular image came to my mind, but I felt I had to paint it. The symbol of the heart can represent the spiritual, emotional and moral core of a person. A purple heart is an American military decoration awarded to those who have been wounded or killed serving the U.S. military. A "heart of gold" can mean to be kind, caring, and loving. These meanings are all combined in this piece.
