Brian Nash
Nashville, Tennessee

Drawing from the memories that colored his childhood summers in Cape Cod, Brian Nash creates works, both playful and provocative, that speak to the kid at heart. Brian hails from Boston and is proud to “have the accent to prove it.” After working for several years at an ad agency in Chicago, Brian, who has an MBA from Dartmouth, took a job as the director of retail and marketing at Ralph Lauren in New York City. Longing to expand his creative repertoire, he eventually packed his bags and moved to Nashville to write country music. Though he recorded numerous songs for major labels, his songwriting took a backseat once he started painting; it was an instantaneous love affair. Fun fact: Some of Brian’s pieces appear in major hospitals and on the sets of TV shows, while others were purchased by known individual collectors (like the creator of the “The Simpsons,” and the director of children’s TV phenomenon, “Rugrats”).

Artist and Customer Comments

Brian Nash 9/24/2015 | 11:47 PM

Today is the first day that my art is listed UGallery, and I'm very happy to be here. I'm a fairly prolific artist -- I paint from the moment I wake up until I go to bed -- and am always working on a few paintings, some of which, I hope, you'll see on here. I hope you like my art. My goal is to make people smile, so, if I did that, I did my job! Thanks!

Comments About This Piece

This painting was done in acrylic, oil, and chalk, on a gallery wrapped canvas with finished edges. It comes ready to hang.

Acrylic painting

Acrylic paint was made commercially available in the 1950’s. Acrylic is a fast drying paint that can be diluted with water, but becomes water-resistant when dry. Acrylics can be applied in thin layers and washes to resemble watercolor paints, or they can be applied in thick layers, built up for texture. The main difference between oil and acrylic paint is the drying time. Oil dries slowly, allowing more time to blend colors and apply glazes. Artists who use acrylic paints typically work faster than those who use oils. Additionally, acrylics offer more versatility and are often used for mixed media work. Artists can mix different materials into the paint, such as sand or rice. They can also apply other media on top of the dried acrylic, such as pastel or pen.

Stretched canvas

Canvas is a heavy-duty fabric used as a painting surface. When a canvas artwork is labeled stretched, it means the canvas has been wrapped around a wooden frame (the ''stretcher''). Stretched canvases typically do not require framing.

A one-of-a-kind artwork is a unique piece handmade by the artist. There is only one in existence. The work may be part of a series, however, the piece itself is unlike any other. This piece is available exclusively at UGallery.
