For anyone who is a fan of "lady painter" Joan Mitchell, the February issue of Poetry magazine has an extensive feature dedicated to her paintings and they're relationship to poetry, memoirs from people who knew her, photos of her and her work, and even a poem she wrote that appeared in the magazine in 1935. Fantastic. I'm extremely pleased with this work. It looks great in my room and people always stop and take a second look at it and compliment it. Well done.

For me, kisses and hugs mechanically produced, stacked up like so many meaningless Hallmark cards. An archive of 1's and 0's in the cache. Well, maybe more of my own psychology here, but I like the questions evoked. And that it does it subtly, in a field of tonal variations.

I was chosen as one of 68 artists to be a part of the Third Annual 50-50 Show at the Sanchez Art Center in Pacifica, CA. I spent nearly 6 weeks working on 50 panels that were part of a painting I called "Composition 49". The show opened August 26th and will remain on display through October 2nd, 2011.

"Unique Act," a book that accompanied a 2008 exhibition at Dublin City Gallery the Hugh Lane, makes a major contribution to the place of abstract painting in the art-historical annals. Artists included in the book are Sean Scully, Carmengloria Morales, Frederic Thursz, Ruth Root and Seán Shanahan. The essay by David Carrier is quite good as well.
