This is my contemporary vision of Cezanne's 1885 painting "The Bather". Amidst obstacle and difficulty, there is an extraordinary presence of delicacy. The boy's bathing for me represents faith in change, renewal, and even if for a short singular moment, the possibility of relief from suffering.
